Moving overseas can be daunting, but can dramatically change your life for the better. When relocating to another country, many people underestimate the time it takes to find permanent accommodation, and additional peripheral costs – deposits, advance rent payment, mobile phone, medical, food whilst in temp housing and so on.  It is important to understand the environment and culture by talking to local expert, before you travel in order to avoid an unexpected surprises.

You can drive in Ireland with a valid EU/EEA licence until it expires and then you must exchange it for an Irish one. As a visitor, you can drive on a licence from any state outside the EU/EEA for up to one year, provided it’s current and valid. If you have any doubt, talk to one of our trained consultants

Extreme winters are rare, and you’re more likely to encounter a warm glow than a frosty reception, with average winter temperatures of between 40°F/5°C and 46°F/8°C.

Summer temperatures are generally moderate, ranging between 60°F/15°C to 80°F/27°C.

Ireland offers a range of school types from private to public, co-educational to single sex schools. Although it is most common to commence primary school at aged four or five, education is compulsory for all children in Ireland. This is from the ages of six to 16 or until pupils have completed three years of second level education including one sitting of the Junior Certificate examination. A TRC consultant can advise and guide you through the different schools types, and help you identify the most suitable for your child.

The main expense when renting in Ireland, is the requirement of one month’s deposit, and one month’s rent in advance. The deposit is refundable when leaving at the end of the lease, should no damage be caused to the property.

Everyone ordinarily resident in Ireland and certain visitors to Ireland are entitled to a range of public health services either free of charge or at reduced cost. You are ordinarily resident if you have been living in Ireland for at least a year or you intend to live here for at least one year.

Depending on your circumstances, short-term visitors to Ireland may be entitled to health services that are free or at a reduced cost. Talk to one of our team should you have a specific health care query as part of your relocation.

Public transport is certainly not the only way to travel around the island of Ireland – but it’s definitely one of the best! All public transport is overground, so all you have to do is peer out the windows to take in our cities, towns and villages. It gives you that time to reflect on your travels, where you’ve been and where you’re going… along with what you want to do when you get there.

In Dublin, there is a mixture of train, tram and bus services criss-crossing the city. Cork has a wonderful range of interconnecting bus services, with train lines from the outer areas, and Limerick and Galway have an expansive scope of bus routes.

In recent years, all cities have been rolling out networks of cycle lanes and self-service bicycle rental points.
